I think I am getting tougher by the minute every time I step outside to ride these days. I rode 4.5 hours the other day and the warmest temperature I saw was 20 degrees, I think I burned 3,000 calories just trying to stay warm. Today the temp was in the low 30’s and it felt almost balmy outside:) I am looking forward to the seventy and eighty degree weather to return to Durango, but for now, I know I am getting mentally and physically tougher and accustomed to riding in frigid temperatures. My theory is that when I have to ride in a cold race someday, I will be ready and totally unfazed! My grocery bill is certainly showing the cold as well, I can’t believe how much food I am having to consume to keep up with the calorie demand of riding in below-freezing temperatures…..thanks to Nature’s Oasis helping me out, I am at least staying fueled with some awesome eats! My new favorite training food is the energy bites from the bulk section! Its a nice change from pb&j and nuts. Check back soon for pics of the seven-foot tall snow banks that I have been riding past for the last few weeks!
